Most common maternity session questions… answered!

Let’s just be honest- most women don’t feel beautiful during their pregnancy. Now, I know there are exceptions to this, but we can all relate to those feelings of being all belly. Despite the apprehension of having your photo taken when you feel less than beautiful, this can be an important and amazing time to document a moment in your family’s history.  When I was pregnant with my twins, I had maybe two photos of my entire pregnancy, one of my biggest regrets.

Here are a few answers to common questions I get asked regarding maternity sessions.

When is the best time to book a maternity session?

Try to plan your session between 32 weeks to 34 weeks- you will have a beautiful bump silhouette, and not be so big that you will be too uncomfortable. (Yet!)

Get Creative-

Don’t be afraid to try something new for this session- This is a great time to think outside the box and try an underwater session, or an early morning session. Use this time of your life as an opportunity to create a memorable experience and images.

Wear something fitted

I know, this seems counterintuitive to what you would want to wear when you feel big, but wearing a fitted dress/shirt/outfit will allow for your photographer to capture your bump silhouette at its finest!

And finally, I am putting my money where my mouth is- I am including my maternity session in the bottom of this blog post- because I chose an unusual place for the scene, and uh,  I felt huge the entire pregnancy. Enjoy!
