It was frigid cold out, despite the vivid greenery hinting at a summer season. As we drove out of Reykjavik towards Vik, it looked like the middle of the day, even though it was approaching 9 p.m. It was May in Iceland, which meant almost 24 hrs of daylight and ample time to shoot the breathtaking and unique landscapes.
As we drove towards our destination we saw gorgeous fishing villages, wind torn churches, and amazing greenery. Our destination was Reynisfjara, a world-famous black–sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland, just beside the small fishing village of Vík í Mýrdal. With its enormous basalt stacks, roaring Atlantic waves and stunning panoramas, Reynisfjara is a beautiful black sand beaches in Iceland, and the destination for Maretinn and Vigs shoot.

Maretinn and Vig, born and raised in Iceland, they wanted images together in the most iconic places of Iceland- and the black sand beach in Reynisfjara was definitely one of the most iconic and beautiful places I have ever visited and photographed.
We spent the shoot just exploring the beach, letting Maretinn and Vig soak up time together and the ocean.
Shooting in wild and beautiful places allow you to step back, stop worrying about posing and perfection, and capture the wild and the moment. It’s my favorite place to be.
